This is the Icon of Saint Parasceva the Martyr. Her parents, Politea and Agathon, called her Parasceva, the Greek word for 'Friday', the day she was born. Throughout her life, she preached the Gospel and because of that she was put to the most cruel tortures. She holds a vessel with eyes reminding us on event when she was thrown into a vat of boiling oil and pitch by Emperor, and nothing happened to her but the Emperor remained blinded.
